HEATHEN: We Have Not Signed Anything Yet
February 6, 2006Veteran San Francisco Bay Area thrashers HEATHEN have issued a statement refuting a recent press release from the the French record company Season of Mist indicating that they have signed the band to a label deal. In a posting on their official web site, HEATHEN write, "OK, so it looks like the cat got out of the bag. Some of you have seen the posts regarding HEATHEN signing with Season of Mist. This message is to inform everyone that HEATHEN has not signed anything yet. We have had several offers and we now have a verbal agreement after negotiating a price. The band still needs to get together look over the contract and sign it....when that happens we will make the big announcement."
HEATHEN were one of the most unique bands to rise from the Bay Area thrash explosion of the '80s/'90s, having released a groundbreaking debut album, "Breaking the Silence", in 1987 went on to sell close to 100,000 copies worldwide.
HEATHEN's current line-up includes vocalist David White, guitarists Terry Lauderdale (also of VAN HALEN cover band HOT FOR TEACHER) and Lee Altus (EXODUS, DIE KRUPPS),bassist Jon Torres (ANGEL WITCH, ULYSSES SIREN) and drummer Darren Minter.
HEATHEN's entire 2005 demo is available for free download at this location. The tracks featured on the demo are "Empty Nothingness", "Dying Season" and "Arrows of Agony".
HEATHEN released their latest CD, "Recovered", independently in the spring of 2004. The effort featured covers of songs from QUEEN, THIN LIZZY, TYGERS OF PAN TANG and SWEET SAVAGE, as well as an original track, "In Memory of…" (written and dedicated to former band member Randy Laird and singer David White's brother Jeffrey).
